Amichay Rubin was born and raised in Acre, the third of eight children to Batya and Yishai Rubin.
He was known for his special charm and was loved by all who knew him. From a young age, Amichay stood out for his deep sensitivity toward others and his kindness to those around him. A true friend, he always put the needs of others before his own. He was humble, honest, and a man of justice.
He studied Torah for four years at the Binyan Ariel Yeshiva and then enlisted in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade, where he was an outstanding soldier, admired by both his commanders and fellow soldiers.
The first sentence he wrote in his personal military notebook was: “Pay attention, first and foremost, to the person in front of me—whether a friend, a commander, or an instructor—and treat them with respect.”
On the morning of Simchat Torah 5784, the soldiers of his company were awakened by the sound of mortar fire. They gathered in the protected area with minimal gear and protection.
At that time, dozens of terrorists launched a surprise attack on the outpost.
Amichay, who served as a machine gunner in his unit, fought bravely, displaying great courage and ingenuity alongside his comrades, saving many fellow soldiers. The soldiers fought fiercely, and Amichay was one of the first to respond, grabbing his machine gun. Together with Lieutenant Shilo Rauchberger, of blessed memory, and other soldiers, they positioned themselves at one of the exits of the dining hall and fought relentlessly against the terrorists.
Even after being wounded several times, Amichay continued to fight. Despite being injured in the head, he never let go of his weapon and kept defending his comrades with extraordinary dedication, fighting until his very last breath.
Amichay and his fellow soldiers fought until they had eliminated or driven away the remaining terrorists from the outpost, saving additional lives and protecting more communities.
On Tuesday, the 25th of Tishrei 5784, his death was confirmed. He was 23 years old.
His organs were donated to five individuals, allowing him to save more lives even after his passing.
May God avenge his blood. May these words be in his memory and for the elevation of his soul.
