The son of Shabtai and Milka, brother to Alon and Yael. Born in Kibbutz Re’im, he lived in Rehovot with his partner Tair. He was laid to rest in the cemetery of his kibbutz, Re’im.
Yuval was an accountant, working for the last two years as an assistant comptroller at the real estate company “Yuvalim.” His colleagues said that it felt like he was much more than just an employee there. He was always someone who cared about others, making sure everyone felt comfortable and united as a team. He was the one who would always call everyone for lunch breaks, insisting they don’t talk about work, and if someone didn’t show up, he would check on them to see how they were.
Yuval was very modest, never wanting gifts from his parents. Even when his company offered him a raise, he asked, “Why? I’m getting enough.”
He volunteered every Friday at the “Rehovot Loves Animals” organization. He loved animals, especially his dog Brownie, whom he had for 11 years. He enjoyed good food, especially Italian, and his favorite dessert was cheesecake.
He was a loving partner to Tair (who studied pastry, which was a perfect fit for Yuval 🙂 for nearly 15 years. Together they traveled to South America and took other trips around the world.
Yuval’s great love was Hapoel Tel Aviv, especially basketball, though also soccer. He attended many games and, unlike a typical fan, never cursed—he would just jump and cheer loudly for his team.
Yuval didn’t drink alcohol at all. Orange juice was his drink of choice!
He was an animated person, always dancing with big hand gestures, funny, and very sarcastic. He would always say “Good morning” even if he visited in the evening. He liked to randomly throw in words like: the Western Wall, Dumbledore (from Harry Potter—he was an avid reader), Pikachu, and Sarit Hadad (though he might have known only one of her songs). There were always smiles around him, and a lot of love.
Yuval loved music, especially rock. He was a fan of Queen, The Jews, Berry Sakharof, and Fortis.
An athlete at heart, Yuval enjoyed running long distances and playing basketball. He loved playing board games and strategy games with his family.
He was kind, loved by all, and loved those around him.
In his military reserve service, he was a platoon sergeant in Haruv, Battalion 8109 under the Shomron Brigade.
On Saturday, October 7, 2023, while en route from his unit’s assembly point to their mission in the settlement of Itamar, Yuval was shot and killed. May his memory be blessed.
