“The girl with the most beautiful handwriting in the world!” I always told her that. “The girl who knew how to draw even before she learned to speak.” From the beginning, pencils and blank papers were Savyon’s best friends. She would sit for long hours by the table, letting the pencils wander on the page, expressing her inner world and saying what sometimes couldn’t be said in words. Later, she became a makeup artist, worked as a kindergarten teacher for 5 years because she loved children so much, but didn’t get the chance to be a mother. She was about to finish her studies at HIT in the Visual Communication program, to fulfill her design dream.

On October 7th, she was at a party with her partner Dor Hanan Shafir. While fleeing from the missiles with her partner, she apparently entered a shelter, and since then we didn’t hear from her again, nor from her partner.

They were supposed to get married, and in the end, we found ourselves accompanying them on their final journey instead of to the wedding canopy.

Niv and Nirel lived together in the young neighborhood of Kfar Aza and were murdered in the cruel terrorist attack on October 7, 2023.

27 years old, a student of psychology and criminology, she loved life, loved the country, loved to travel, celebrate, and be happy. Full of giving and acceptance, she always knew how to say the right thing and give the right advice, leaving life messages for all those around her.

Niv and Nirel moved to live together in the kibbutz only a few months before the great tragedy. Niv said she fell in love with the kibbutz and described it as a magical place.

Niv and Nirel planned to get married in the coming year and start a large family. Their whole lives were ahead of them
